The water pump of your 3 (E36) allows the coolant to circulate through your car's engine.
The water pump is generally replaced at the same time as the timing belt. These two parts go together.
It is possible however, that your BMW $serie 3 (E36)’s water pump starts leaking, meaning it will need to be replaced before changing the timing belt. You can easily determine whether or not your water pump is leaking by putting your hand underneath pump.
If you see white traces around the water pump it means coolant leaks out and dries beside it.
To determine as well as possible which water pump references will fit to your car, we recommend you select the engine of your BMW $serie 3 (E36) in the drop down menu or just enter your reg.
